Program Highlights:
This is a unique program that focuses specifically on business administration, within the framework of the university’s BA program taught entirely in English. Our semester, summer, year, and BA programs are ideal for students who want more in-depth knowledge business practices with a Central European perspective, but also with the comforts of studying at an American university.
The University:
Founded in 1973, City University of Seattle is a private, accredited, not-for-profit university that has awarded over 45,000 degrees and certificates worldwide. Headquartered in the United States with nearly 20 locations throughout the US and abroad, it is a truly a global university.
City University of Seattle began its operations in Slovakia in 1991, two years before the Slovak Republic came into existence as Europe’s newest nation. Since its establishment, City University of Seattle in Slovakia has successfully completed the process of local recognition and accreditation and has become a fully respected educational institution in Central Europe. Since 1999, City University has also offered its programs through Vysoka Skola Manazmentu (VSM), the first accredited private university in Slovakia fully recognized by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.
The Bratislava campus serves as the university’s European headquarters and houses 15 classrooms, 2 computer labs, and a library. There is a diverse student body and you’ll enjoy the benefit of learning from international as well as Slovak faculty.
The City:
Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and is home to 450,000 people. The city is located on the banks of the stunning Danube River and is nestled in between Austria and Hungary and at the foot of the Low Carpathian Mountains. Tell your friends that you are studying in the only national capital that borders two independent countries – Austria and Hungary! Bratislava is the political, cultural, and economic center of the country, which is evidenced by the many government buildings, universities, museums, theaters, galleries and business and financial institutions. In your free time you can stroll the streets of the historic Old Town and drink a cup of coffee while gazing at the Bratislava Castle or St. Martin’s Cathedral. History and culture will be at your fingertips and our on-site staff will make sure that you are fully immersed in the Slovakian way of life. Since Bratislava is home to a number of major Slovak universities, you will have plenty of local college students to socialize with.
Courses & Descriptions:
SUMMER/SEMESTER/ACADEMIC YEAR STUDIES
Choose from a wide variety business administration courses taught in English. The program surveys the contemporary business disciplines of accounting, finance, marketing, economics, law and international relations. Students strengthen skills in communication and decision-making and learn about the central importance of behavioral factors in business.
BA STUDIES
Earn an American BA degree in Bratislava! Along with the process of globalization, education has become more global. Now there are so many opportunities to earn your degree abroad. That is why we have developed our full-degree options so that you can study abroad AND still get an American degree.
The university offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A). The program is built on a solid core of management education combined with coursework that provides a broad understanding of business. Graduates of the bachelor program are well-equipped to continue their studies in graduate degree programs in a number of administrative, technical and commercial fields. All classes are taught in English.
Transfer Credit:
City University of Seattle is a fully accredited American university. With prior approval of your advisor, the courses should seamlessly transfer back to your home university. Before applying it’s important to speak with the study abroad advisor at your home institution to obtain pre-approval for your courses and determine how many credits you’ll receive. Every educational institution has different policies about transferring credit, so we encourage you to follow your institution’s regulations.
After completing the program, we’ll send your registrar or study abroad advisor an official transcript with the course titles, credit hours, and grades. Your university will need this transcript to transfer credit.
Financial Aid:
For semester students, it is possible to transfer your financial aid to pay for some or all of the program costs. The first step is to check with your home institution’s financial aid advisor before applying. Since every home institution has different rules, only your advisor can tell you what kind of aid can transfer. We are happy to provide you with a certificate of enrollment or any other documents that your university might require.
For full-degree BA students, American applicants are eligible to use federal financial aid to pay for the program. Please contact us for more details.
