Study Abroad Czech Republic is a division of Study Abroad Compass, LLC. It was established with the goal of expanding academic year, semester, and summer opportunities for students who are specifically interested in the Czech language and culture.

Our mission is to provide enriching programs in a variety of academic disciplines so that every student can find the right program. In addition to a challenging curriculum, we aim to facilitate language learning and cultural immersion through well-organized activities. Our on-site staff members have worked extensively with international groups, so our students can enjoy a stress-free experience abroad.

Meet  Our Team

Sarah Grunberg

Executive Director

Sarah is originally from upstate NY, and is Polish-American. She has lived in Warsaw since 2008 while completing her PhD at the Graduate School for Social Research. She began as a study abroad student herself, coming to Poland after she graduated from Ithaca College, and has since completed her MA in Sociology through Lancaster University. She has always been passionate about promoting the value and importance of studying abroad, an experience that can provide a space to learn about different cultures, but additionally allows students to learn so much about their own perspectives and identities.

Renata Micajova

Marketing Director

Renata is originally from Slovakia. She holds an MA Degree from Lancaster University and a BA Degree from the State University of New York-Empire State College in cooperation with the University of New York in Prague. Before joining our team, she worked as a Corporate Affairs Manager at UNYP and as a Development Specialist at the May Institute in Boston. She has many years of professional experience in the fields of education, training and development, and she enjoys sharing her knowledge of Central Europe with our students.

Tereza Bastarova

Program Director in Prague

Tereza originally comes from western Bohemia and she’s been living in Prague for the past four years. She is a graduate student at the University of Economics in Prague where she is majoring in European Integration and her minor is Anglo-American Studies. She likes travelling and meeting new people.

Ethan Sander

Marketing Assistant

Ethan is from Port Washington, New York. He is currently a sophomore at the University of Rochester studying business with a marketing focus. His hobbies include playing baseball, reading and traveling. He has visited a number of European countries in the past and he is excited about introducing our students to this part of the world.

Jeremy Diller

Marketing Assistant

Jeremy is a junior at the University of Rochester majoring in Financial Economics and Statistics. He has received several academic accolades such as the Dean’s Scholarship and multiple Dean’s List recognitions for academic achievement. He is also a member of the varsity baseball team. In his free time, he likes to play outdoor sports and he also enjoys traveling and seeing the world.

Karina Barborikova

Program Director in Bratislava

Karina is from Slovakia and currently lives in Bratislava. She is studying business administration at the City University of Seattle in Bratislava. Before that, she studied abroad at Rollins College in Florida. She looks forward to introducing students to the language and culture of her home country. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and traveling around the world.

Paulina Kasprowicz

Program Director in Warsaw

Paulina is a graduate student at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, studying Political Science and Asian Studies, with an emphasis on Human Rights. She speaks fluent Polish and English, and she is also a graduate of the Olney Friends High School in Ohio. She enjoys traveling, horseback riding, dog training and studying new languages. She likes to share her customs and culture with others. She will be pleased to introduce the capital city of Warsaw to our students.
